Dear
USD Reunion Participants,
We
just wrapped up the 11th USD European Alumni Reunion in
I
would like to thank all the participants, who came from places throughout
Mathias,
Stephan, Arthur, Evelyn, Arnaud, Guillaume and his family (Xochitl, Claire
and Sophie), Chris, Yelena, Oliver, Erika, Pierre, Arndt, Justine, Miranti
and Peter. This weekend was such a success due to each and every
participant, and I am greatful to have had the opportunity to meet and get
to know you all, and proud to have had the opportunity to show you a small
part of my country.
This year we welcomed a number of USD Law Alumni, which greatly enriched the group. All the participants agreed that it would be great to join resources and provide a greater opportunity for all those USD alumni to maintain contacts with one another, as well as to establish new USD ties.
On
Friday evening the group met at an Italian restaurant bar, where
acquaintances were made. This Apéro was generously offered by Alumni
Stephan Neidhardt. The group then made its way to a restaurant in
Arnaud Haefelin and I welcomed the participants. Alumni Mathias Völker and Stephan Neidhardt, both USD LL.M alumni shared a few words with the group on their how their USD experience shaped their careers and lives.
Following
dinner some of us strolled the main street of
Saturday
morning we met at the train station and boarded a train for the famous

That
evening, we dined in a early 17th century farm house in the
country, which had all the warmth and charm of homes in that period;
petroleum lamps, lace curtains, creaky wood floors, country flower
arrangements on the table. A buffet of traditional swiss country cooking,
good wine from the southern sun-soaked slopes of the canton of Wallis, and
diverse conversations, with lots of humor was enjoyed by all. Chris Peyre
held a small talk on how his USD experience shaped his career. He then,
together with his partner, Yelena, also a USD graduate,
graciously offered to host the 2008 USD European reunion in
Sunday lunch was the opportunity to wrap up the reunion, though most participants had already headed back to their homes. Nonetheless, it provided the possibility of two additional alumni to get a feel for what the weekend was like and I hope to see them next year also.
With
great enjoyment of having organized the 2007 reunion in
For
those who could not join us, please pass the word for next year, end of June
for the 2008 reunion. Also, let all your fellow alumni know, and pass any
updated email contact information to
