Paris, 1st
of June 1998.
The main purpose of the meeting was of course to enjoy ourselves
and to meet all together again. About 15 alumna came from all
around Europe and also from the US : Philip BILLE (MBA'89) and
Peter HOLZNECHT (MBA'84) came for example from Belgium, Eric
Bernard (MBA'89) and Pierre NECHELIS (MBA'93) from France, Alex
HADZINIKOLAIDIS (MBA'89) from Greece, Alfried LEWANDOWSKI
(MBA'90) from Germany, ALI FATAH (MBA'90) from San Diego, Gianni
CERUTTI (MBA'89) from Italy, Knut BERG JACOBSEN (MBA'91) from
Norway, Tuomo HYYSALO (MBA'90) from Finland, and Greg SICARD
(MBA'90) from Haiti.
In the first afternoon, we have visited the beautiful castle of
the "masque de fer" in Ile St marguerite now a famous
movie with Di Caprio.
At night the dinner at " Carlton" took place surrounded
by movie star like Andie Mac Dowell, for those who weren't tired
we went to Monte-Carlo at the club Paradise to have some Tequila
shots. Hopefully the karting race took place the next day at 2pm
which allowed us to get some rest. But it wasn't over and we did
have a bbq at my house on Saturday night. This was THE night
where we took some important decisions :
- Mr. Alex HADZINIKOLAIDIS proposed to organize the next year
meeting in Greece.
- Mr. Arnaud HAEFELIN will create the European organization based
on an association.
We all think that it is impossible to develop a strong network
and a USD alumni spirit in Europe and to keep track of everybody
without creating an organization with one person specially
dedicated for that. We also underlined the difficulties to
maintain a link with the new graduates.
The next day after a brunch at my house we all went to the 1998
Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monte-Carlo. This is always a special
event : the track is directly in the town with speeds over than
250 km/h. This year we saw the Mc Laren Mercedes overwhelming the
competition : Mika Hakkinen won with more than 30s. on the
second.
Finally I would like to thank everybody for coming and I hope
that we will be many more next time in Greece to discover this
great country all together.
ARNAUD HAEFELIN - MBA'90
